IDE 632-Instructional Design & Development II

Course Description:
This course will engage students in the theories and practices of instructional design and development. The course focuses on instructional systems design (ISD). We explore ISD as it is practiced in different environments.
Romiszowski characterized ISD as “educational engineering” and those who practice it as “educational engineers” (or instructional engineers) defined as “… a person who uses scientific knowledge to solve practical problems.” The problems that we investigate relate to instructional needs (or gaps between current conditions and desired conditions), change, evaluation, management, and instruction.
During the semester, we will explore each of the components of the ISD process. Additionally, you will be expected to apply readings, class discussions and other material to the creation of a personal ISD model that you will develop throughout the semester.
